The short version
Shoppers' room photos are used for one thing: generating the visualization they asked for. We don't sell them, use them for advertising, or train AI models on them.
Billing runs entirely through Shopify. We never see or store card numbers.
Deletion requests propagate automatically through Shopify's data-erasure webhooks. When a store or shopper asks to be forgotten, that includes us.
We collect the minimum needed to run the service, and this page lists all of it.
Who we are
FurniView, LLC ("FurniView", "we", "us") makes an AI room-visualization app for Shopify stores. It lets a shopper upload a photo of their room and see a store's product placed inside it.
Two roles matter in this policy. For the merchants who install FurniView, we act as an independent controller of their account data. For the shoppers who use the visualizer on a merchant's store, the merchant is the controller and we act as their processor: we handle shopper photos and data only on the merchant's behalf, to deliver the feature.
What we collect
From merchants
- Store details Shopify shares on install: store name, domain, and the account email.
- Product catalog data (titles, images, variants) so the visualizer knows what to place.
- Plan, credit balance, and billing events, handled through Shopify Billing. Card numbers never reach us.
- App settings, such as guest usage limits and widget placement.
From shoppers (on behalf of the merchant)
- The room photo they upload and the visualization we generate from it.
- The product and variant they chose to visualize.
- Optional thumbs up or down feedback on a result.
- A usage count for guests (stored in the browser) so free limits work, and the shopper's customer ID if they sign in to keep generating.
- Basic technical data: browser type, device class, and IP address, used for delivery, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.

How we use it
- To generate visualizations: the photo and chosen product are sent to our AI provider to produce the image the shopper requested.
- To run the service: usage limits, credit accounting, sign-in prompts, and fraud and abuse prevention.
- To show merchants their own analytics: generations used, sign-ups earned, and orders attributed to visualizations, inside their dashboard.
- To improve reliability: aggregate, de-identified metrics (success rates, latency, thumbs feedback) tell us where quality slips.
What we don't do: we don't sell personal data, we don't use shopper photos for advertising, and we don't train AI models on them. Photos are processed solely to produce the visualization.
Room photos, in detail
A room photo is the most personal thing FurniView touches, so it gets its own section.
- Photos are encrypted in transit and processed only to generate the requested visualization.
- For guests, the photo and result are kept only as long as the browsing session needs them, then deleted from our systems on a short, fixed schedule.
- If a shopper signs in and saves a visualization, it stays in their gallery until they delete it or the merchant's store data is erased.
- Our team does not browse photos. Access is restricted to automated processing, plus rare, logged debugging with the merchant's knowledge.
Retention & deletion
We keep data only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for:
- Guest photos and results: deleted on a short, fixed schedule after the session.
- Saved visualizations: kept until the shopper deletes them or an erasure request arrives.
- Merchant account data: kept while the app is installed, then erased after uninstall on Shopify's standard schedule.
- Billing records: retained as long as tax and accounting law requires.
FurniView implements Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks. When a shopper asks a store for their data or its deletion, or a store is closed, those requests propagate to us automatically and we act on them without anyone needing to email us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the EU/UK under GDPR and California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Shoppers: the store you used FurniView on is the controller of your data, so the fastest path is contacting that store; their request reaches us automatically. You can also contact us directly and we'll help.
Merchants: email us at privacy@furniview.com and we'll handle your request within 30 days.
Security
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access inside FurniView follows least privilege: systems and people can only reach the data their job requires, and access to production data is logged. If a breach ever affects your data, we will notify affected merchants and regulators as the law requires.
International transfers
FurniView is operated from the United States, and our providers process data in the US and EU. Where data moves out of the EU or UK, we rely on recognized safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses with our subprocessors.
Children
FurniView is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For material changes affecting how shopper photos are handled, we will notify merchants by email and in the app dashboard before the change takes effect.
